Location :
This boutique hotel is located only few steps away from the 5th avenue and its entertaining day and nightlife. Tired of all inclusive buffets of international resorts ? The Palm at Playa is an excellent alternative to discover all the dining and dancing possibilities of the town. One minute walk from the beach and its lovely fishermen village, it will take you only few minutes to jump on a ferry to Cozumel.
The hotel is little piece of heaven with a tropical garden within the courtyard. Confortable seating areas with lush vegetation will bring you a bit of shadow and coolness in a relaxing atmosphere.
Rooftop pool :
Let's talk first about my favorite place at the hotel, the rooftop ! This is definitly the edge of the Palm. This rooftop comes with 360° views on Playa del Carmen and the caribbean ocean. Lounge beds with blue touches, infinity pool, grill restaurant, bar with great cocktail creations will offer you a very good spot to chill out.
Try their signature cocktail that comes with Mezcal, a typical mexican alcohol, coconut and mint. Delicious and refreshing !
The hotel staff offers also complimentary frozen fruits, a delightful and healthy snack :)
If you did not have enough, then test the two other highlights of the roof : the jacuzzi and the hammock ! Quite nice for a nap or a swing over the water. The place is also very entertaining, playing the latest famous dj sounds. It reminded me a bit of my past times in Ibiza :)
Guestrooms :
This 69 guestrooms boutique hotel features the largest rooms among the hotels of Playa del Carmen.
For my part, I stayed in a one bedroom suite with a confortable living room and kitchen.
Guestrooms are comtemporary with very large and romantic bathrooms : a walk in glassed shower for two people ! Loved it !
Amenities L'Occitane, a french cosmetic brand from South of France, are generously provided.
The rooms come also with a balcony and its hammock sourrounded by vegetation, a real mexican habbit !
Breakfast :
Finally, time to get up and have breakfast. Breakfast is served the way I like the most. Choose you prefered type, relax and get served. You can choose between different styles, continental, american, english, mexican, organic, pancakes, etc... The breakfast room has a very nice and cool atmosphere opened on the street.
I really recommend this hotel for young couples or small groups of friends who want to enjoy some relaxing time with the possibily to explore the region in a total freedom !
To sum up, I recommend the Palm at Playa for :
