Relaxing stay and scuba diving in Passikudah, Sri Lanka

Visiting Sri Lanka means lots of time on the road and on the train. The country has so many things to offer that curiosity pushes you to explore the maximum. However, your body and soul might need to relax and Passikudah has a very beautiful beach to chill a bit and enjoy watersports.

The city of Passikudah itself does not have a real interest. We tried to have diner outside of the hotel but the restaurants were empty or did not really give the envy to seat down. The other alternative is to book an expensive diner in another hotel than yours, which is not a good idea as you will pay a tuktuk ride for the same quality food and atmosphere.

The main point of interest of Passikudah is the white sand beaches with turquoise water. The temperature of the water is 29 degres, a real pleasure....

During summer, july and august, the beach is quiet and enables to practice different kind of watersports such as jetski, paddle, scuba diving etc...

For scuba diving, we booked thanks to LSR. Try this email adress, this contact replies more quickly than contacting the website : lsrfrenchmkt@sltnet.lk. Diving Center is at Marina Hotel where they have a swimming pool if you want to do an initiation before trying in the ocean.

This dive was not the best of my life, I have seen more colorful and fishy reefs but the spot enables to see a wreck without diving too deep, a good opportunity for beginners to see one.

Even though the city and surrundings do not offer lots of possibilities, I really enjoyed to relax two nights in Passikudah and to swim in crystal hot waters of the indian ocean. We missed time but if you have the possibility, I recommend to stay two other days in Trincomale and enjoy some snorkiling time on Pigeon Island.

In terms of accomodation, we chose to stay at Sunrise by Jetwing, resorts are quite expensive in the area but you do not have much alternatives and the beach of the hotel is really nice.

Enjoy some rest !
