Walking through Old Havana, Cuba...

Havana in Cuba has of course unmissable spots such as the Capitol, the Cathedral, the Malecon, etc... but walking through Old Havana streets is such a pleasant part of the journey. Coloforul houses and patios, bars, museums, live music bands playing in the street, old american cars, street art, children dressed in uniform, so many treasures to enjoy in Havana Vieja !

The architecture of Old Havana is just a splendour, with variety of stones, colors, wood and wrought iron on the balconies, etc... It is not surprising to know that Havana Vieja has been elected UNESCO World Heritage in 1982. Don't be surprised to see beautiful renovated houses in some place and some other buildings almost ready to fall down. Some people do not like this mix, showing apparently difficulties of the country, but it is part of Cuba history and character.

All along your walk, dare to enter a bit deeper into the houses and admire the beautiful patios. For the pleasure of your eyes, you will also observe that art is everywhere.

El Patio de la Casa Victor Hugo

Some women dressed up with folkloric suits stand in the street, smoking cigares. This is clearly made to attract tourists, however, they are not pushy at all and do not care if you take their picture from far. Let's say they contribute to a typical postcard of the city !

Another precious thing is to be always surprised to see people playing music, whether it is a band or just old men playing for pleasure. Of course, they will be more than happy if you take their picture and will not forget to ask you a little tip... but this is part of the touristic game after all.

Family sceneries in the streets can also be observed. People like spending time outside together :)

Lots of itinerant merchants selling fruits and vegetables are also located at various corners.

We bought from them avocados and ananas, these avocados were the best I tasted in my life. A pleasant break after a day walking through the city.

Some small markets are hidden in the buildings. Of course, variety of food is not impressive but it worth it having a look in cuban every day life.

The city is also full of little cats, completly inoffencive.

Old Pharmacie

Havana is also known to be the cuban museum of old american cars but I keep more pics for another dedicated post !

Enjoy walking through these colorful houses and beautiful alleys !
