To end our trip in Sri Lanka and get closer to Colombo Airport to take our flight back to Paris, we decided to spend the last night in Negombo as the beach seemed to be an interesting and relaxing option before flying for 16 hours. Negombo hotels offer is quite important with lots of resorts but quite overpriced and this is how we decided to go for a boutique hotel, the Pledge 3.
Looking at the hotel market in Negombo, we had to invest around 150/180 € per night for a 5* resorts without being sure of the quality. When you read reviews on trip advisor, most of the hotels are noisy and not 100 % clean, this is why puting 180 € a night had to be reconsidered. Pledge 3 offers a non flexible rate at 90 € and we thought the risk was more limited. Decoration at Pledge 3 hotel is also more personalized and has more character than a classic resort, it ended to convince us to book our last night in Sri Lanka at Pledge 3 Hotel.
The boutique hotel is located one block behind the beach, only 3 minutes walk. Lobby and common areas are quite small, this is why it is called a boutique hotel after all ! Decoration of the rooms is modern with flashy green coach and pictures of Marylin Monroe. The bathroom is also quite modern with concrete materials. The finishing touches are not 100 % perfect but Pledge 3 is not a 5* hotel afterwards and compared to the more reasonable price we paid, this is acceptable.
Rooms are located around a corridor that leads to the restaurant and swimming pool. I quite like the appearing concrete and metallic structure.
The swimming pool is pleasant and quiet, people are here to relax, read a book and listen to their own music. Snacks can be served around the swimming pool.
Service is ok, not as warm as in other hotels we had the chance to stay with but was a least efficient.
Pledge 3 is not our best memory but it made the job at a reasonable price for Negombo ! And I am pretty sure this was far better than a huge and impersonal resort :)
