Plaza Vieja in Old Havana, Cuba

Plaza Vieja is a square in Old Havana that has been well restored, preserving its authenticity. Plaza Vieja is a nice place to include in your visit of the city and on the top of all, a place where you can seat down to enjoy tapas and mojitos on a terrace while listening to live music !

Plaza Vieja is full of colorful colonial houses and pieces of art such as a metalic rooster and a giant tulip (I assume it is a tulip !).

Walking below along the buildings is also nice, enabling you to discover the multitudes of colums, wooden doors, lanterns, etc...

On that day, we had the chance to see a group of children practicing sport. This day was a bank holidays but on the other days, children are dressed up with uniforms. If you have a little time, have a look to the Fototeca de Cuba, an institution to promote Cuba photographic Heritage. Cuban people are real artists and you will see it all along your trip in Cuba.

 Colorful Colonial houses :

Plaza Vieja is also the place with lovely bars where you can find lively spots with bands playing music while enjoying  tapas, mojitos or breakast : My favorite one was La Vitrola

Do not miss Plaza Vieja during with visit of La Havane ! And do not forget, La Havane has to be visited on foot to enjoy all the treasures of the city :)
