Sunset Cocktail at Rock Bar, Ayana Resort, Bali, Indonesia

Bali is well known for sunset spots and Rock Bar is for sure one of the best on the balinese island.

Located in Uluwatu and part of the famous Ayana Resort, the Rock bar has been built on guess what.... a rock ! Cliffs, waves, rocks, horizon and indian ocean are the natural elements of this splendid seascape.

Arrival :

This place is quite crowed, be sure to arrive before the sunset begins if you want to have a seat with a nice view.

To get there, two solutions :

- the effortless one : you can wait for the elevator that leads you directly to the bar. If you are not a guest of the hotel, be prepared to queue 30 to 40 minutes. These lucky ones have a fast lane...
- if you are young and energic enough, the staff will invite you to take the stairs. Quite a good idea as you are there in less than 5 minutes. On the way down, you will have the chance to discover different spots of Ayana Resort such as an amazing view on one of the most famous swimming pool of the world.

Rock bar is a long bar along the rocks, 15m above the waves.

Seating options :
If you are looking for a more intimate and confortable option, you can choose between a table, a confortable sofa or to seat directly at the bar.If you want to enjoy the good vibes of the venue, there is another alternative at the bar : A line of bottles in front of the sun diving into the ocean and an open-top DJ booth built on a natural element.

Food and Drinks :

The staff is usually quite overwhelmed at Sunset time but as asian people, they always keep the smile and try to do the best.

Ayana resort is among the most expensive resorts on the island, therefore, Rock bar is a bit pricy. However, compared to prices we would pay in Europe, USA or Australia, it's quite reasonnable for a spot like this.

The bar staff are what we can call "cocktail mixologists". They will surprise you with spectacular drinks. Mine came with a half smoking fruit on the top...

I ordered the "Ayana Passion", which is Vodka, Papaya fruit, Strawberry, Red Pepper and Passion Fruit.

Some salted or sweet tapas can come along your drink, for our part we had the chocolate and pistachio lollipops. Not sure it was a good idea as it quickly melted...

Overlooking the indian ocean, this is the perfect spot to admire the changing colors of the sky. From orange to pink and blue, to end with a glittering sky full of stars... Sunset at Rock Bar was definitly one of our most memorable moment in Bali...
