If you are looking for a wild and tropical beach far from tourists drinking beers and tanning all day long, Talalla Beach in southern Sri Lanka worths being discovered. As Talalla Beach is not that famous compared to other south Sri Lanka beaches, Handun Villas is very good value for money and I recommand to book at least the second room category to get more space. We booked a Villa Deluxe but were upgraded to the upper category. The room is very spacious and comes with a separated living room, a door opening on the garden and a stunning bathroom with external shower and bathtube.
Handun Villas is built in an ancient colonial manor from 1895 and has been restored to give it modern confort while preserving its Dutch architecture that you can also find in Galle Dutch fort, just few kilometers away. Decoration is made with raw materials, wood, and white linen for more simplicity. Diner is served in a elegant dining room and breakfast, whether you go for english or sri lankan style, is served in the courtyard by an elegant young woman in saree. There are not too many rooms, therefore there are too many guests as well and this is how you find yourself in a quiet atmosphere.
