Hiking to Little Adam's Peak, Ella, Sri Lanka

Ella is one of the Sri Lankan spot where you can do mountains hiking and admire breathtaking green landscapes. Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock are the two most famous walks to do in the area. Each peak offers unforgettable and scenic views on the other one and the surroundings. Little Adam's Peak is a very nice walk and easily accessible to all kind of travelers. Let's explore it together....

Little Adam's peak walk takes only one hour to one hour and a half, round trip. A good idea is to combine it with Nine Arch Bridge as they are walking distance from each others. The walk is not too difficult and can be done with children or not very sporty people. Ella Rock walk is known to be much harder, requiring good shape and lasting 4 hours minimum. As we missed time we decided to go for Little Adam's Peak which still offers amazing views.

The begining of the walk starts at "Ella Flower Garden Resort". You will start with a little promenade through tea plantations where you can admire flowers, animals and Ella Rock on your right. You will also meet lots of very kind dogs...

After this easy and pleasant walk, you will take a reasonnable rise and then some steps to lead you to the top of the peak with a breathtaking view on Ella Rock and its surroudings. Nature is amazing, green is intense, the panorama worths it and will remain in you mind for a while, believe me ! Be careful with your belongings and hats, this is very windy !! But not too cold, I was wearing a short, do not worry about the temperature :)

Where to stay or to relax ?
After having admired the landscape, it is now time to go back or take a break at the 98 Acres Resort & Spa. This is quite a good idea, this luxury hotel is amazing and offers a relaxing atmosphere to chill a bit after your walk. This is one of the most expensive hotel in Ella, with private houses offering direct views on Ella Rock. Some of them have private swimming pools. Rates of the rooms are not very affordable (500 dollars a night in July), but a drink with a club sandwich or a salad as a snack are really affordable, taking into consideration the luxury standards of the property.

Another interesting choice is to stay in Ella Jungle Resort, which will be the topic of a future review.

Now, for the less lazing ones, try to explore Ella Rock and tell me if I need to come back to Sri Lanka !
